Minutes ago, it emerged that Manchester City player Carlos Tevez has been suspended following an incident where he refused to play in a match against Bayern Munich on Tuesday 27 September.
Fans took to social networking sites to air their outrage at the player, many blaming him for Manchester City’s 2-0 loss that night.
In the post-match interview, a seemingly underwhelmed Tevez claimed, “‘I didn’t feel I was right to play, so I didn’t”. Today, Tevez issued a further statement, saying “”I believe my position may have been misunderstood … I never refused to play”.
A full review of the situation is set to come about within Tevez’s two week suspension. Whether or not this will see Tevez punished in a way fans see fit is yet to be established.
The full statement can be read on the official Manchester City Football Club site.
